Unified Emergency Service in Twin City: 30 New ERSS Vehicles Deployed

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has introduced 30 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) vehicles to the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. This initiative aims to revolutionize emergency response in the Twin City by integrating medical aid, ambulance services, and fire rescue under the ‘Dial 112’ emergency service.

These vehicles are equipped to handle a range of emergencies, from medical crises to fire incidents, ensuring quick and efficient responses for the citizens of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.


Advanced Features of ERSS Vehicles

1. Medical Emergency Assistance

The new fleet includes vehicles equipped with:

  • Oxygen cylinders for critical cases.
  • Life-support systems and stretchers for immediate assistance.
  • First-aid kits to provide preliminary care before reaching hospitals.

2. Fire and Rescue Operations

To address fire emergencies, the vehicles are equipped with:

  • Fire suppression tools to control blazes.
  • Ladders and ropes for rescue operations in challenging situations.
  • Life jackets, enhancing safety during rescue missions in waterlogged or flood-prone areas.

3. Enhanced Location Tracking

All vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking systems, enabling swift identification of emergency locations, reducing response times significantly.


Deployment Plan for Twin City

Out of the 30 vehicles launched, 22 are stationed in Bhubaneswar while the remaining 8 are deployed in Cuttack. The government has announced plans to extend this initiative with further support from the Central Government, ensuring broader coverage in the near future.


CM Mohan Majhi’s Vision

Speaking at the launch event, CM Mohan Majhi highlighted the importance of enhancing emergency response infrastructure. He stated, “These state-of-the-art vehicles symbolize our commitment to ensuring citizen safety. By integrating medical and fire assistance with our law enforcement, we aim to create a robust emergency response system in the Twin City.”

  • Seamless integration of police, fire, and medical services.
  • Real-time tracking of emergency calls.
  • Enhanced coordination across departments for quicker resolution.

A Step Towards Safer Cities

With this initiative, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are poised to set an example for other cities, demonstrating how technology and infrastructure can be combined to enhance public safety.
